Bound Tales

Thurston Howl's Bound Tales is THP's furry imprint. This means that it focuses on publishing adult anthropomorphic-animal fiction, adult implying both erotica and horror mostly.

For our Bound Tales store, go here.

If you are interested in querying us for your furry book, please send us a full query (first 10-20 pages, full synopsis in one or two single-spaced pages, and a cover letter) to thurstonhowlpub@gmail.com, addressing one of the editors below based on your genre.

At this time, we are not looking for generic sci fi or fantasy, young adult, children's, picture books, or religious fiction. We really prioritize erotic and horror content, especially with liberal slants.

Below our editor list, you will find our list of current furry anthologies!

Once A-Fawn a Time

Thurston Howl Publications is now accepting submissions for its furry anthology, ONCE A-FAWN A TIME.

Deadline: Oct 1, 2019

Editor: Howl
Word count: 2,500-8,000; a little above and a little below will be acceptable

Once a-fawn a time, a big good wolf was attacked by a red bad riding hood! It's time to celebrate fairy tails! We want to see anthro-animal characters in the misty woods, with their furry godmothers, wasting wishes! It is perfectly fine but not required if submissions are erotic in nature, and, being THP, we definitely encourage horror. All stories must be based on a fairy tale, even if very loosely. We welcome all genres! All story submissions must be "furry" in nature. Each story will be illustrated.

We will NOT accept:
Racism, sexism, or discrimination presented in a positive light.
Pedophilia or sex with characters under the age of 18 presented in a positive light.
Rape, torture, dubious consent, forced seduction presented in a positive light.
Snuff or Necrophilia presented in a positive light
Bestiality presented in a positive light
If you are in doubt, ASK. Better to ask then to get a straight up rejection! If you are unsure, just shoot me an email at jonathan.thurstonhowlpub@gmail.com. (restrictions borrowed from Voice: https://t.co/MWykJ6RY36)

You can submit up to four stories, but we will only accept two at the most per author (if any).
Reprints are fine, but you have to own full permission of the work in order for us to consider it.
We will not accept simultaneous submissions.
Payment: $10/story
Send submissions in .doc or .docx format to jonathan.thurstonhowlpub@gmail.com.
Title your email with the story title in all caps, e.g. "THREE BILLY GOATS HUFF BECAUSE THEY HAVE A MUSK FETISH." If you are sending more than one submission, send multiple emails instead of putting them all in one.
We will inform all authors regarding decisions within a week or two after the deadline.
Book will likely be released in the spring.

Trans-fur-mation: Tales from transgender furry voices

Trans people have not often had a voice. We have been ignored. We have been told by others who and what we are. We have been given a role to play in the world. But rarely have we had the power to make our voices heard – until only fairly recently. This anthology exists to allow the voices of trans individuals within the furry community to tell their stories through the medium of speculative fiction.

Tales that are encouraged should be ones that address or challenge how gender is viewed and can be from any genre; urban slice-of-life, fantasy, science-fiction. Some examples may be: A teenager in school discovers a magical book that transforms them into the body they always imagined they could have. An android in the far future awakens to discover that the body it wears is inexplicably not right. An assassin takes one last big contract so that she can afford enough money to pay for her reassignment surgery. These are our stories. These are our voices. Make them heard.

Editor: Cybera

Deadline: November 1

Word count: 2000-8000

All story submissions must be "furry" in nature. Please note this is a pro-trans collection and anti-trans stories will not be considered. Erotic stories will be considered but please avoid stories that objectify or fetishize trans individuals.

We will NOT accept:

Racism, sexism, or discrimination presented in a positive light.

Pedophilia or sex with characters under the age of 18 presented in a positive light.

Rape, torture, dubious consent, forced seduction presented in a positive light.

Beneath the Suit

Thurston Howl Publications is now accepting submissions for its furry anthology, BENEATH THE SUIT.

Deadline: Jan 10, 2020

Editor: Cedric G! Bacon
Word count: 2,500-8,000; a little above and a little below will be acceptable

What makes characters like Michael Myers, Jason, and Jigsaw terrifying? They all wear these uncanny masks. We rarely see the face beneath the mask. When they stand still, and their face follows you, it's creepy in ways that Freddy or the Werewolf can't pull off. Imagine ways that fursuiters and pup-players can do the same thing. This is a horror collection all about fursuits and pup hoods. It is perfectly fine but not required if submissions are NSFW. We are honestly expecting horror here, gritty, gory, and maybe even a little sexy. However, again, adult stories are by no means required for acceptance. Stories do not have to be set in a world that is "furry," but it's fine if they are!

We will inform all authors regarding decisions within a week or two after the deadline.
Book will likely be released October in plenty of time for Halloween.

Paw-ly Love: Love stories for poly furs

Love doesn't have to be between just two people. It can be for three people. Four. A whole polycule. Furries in particular have for a while been open to this kind of dynamic, moreso than other groups. This collection celebrates that different kind of love.

All stories must be either romantic and/or erotic. Please note that we are interested in specifically poly love, not open relationships or random threeways.

Editor: Thurston Howl

Deadline: February 10, 2020

Word count: 2500-8000

All story submissions must be "furry" in nature. Please note this is a pro-poly collection and anti-poly stories will not be considered.

We will NOT accept:

Dogpile: Tales of furries into pup play

Woof! The past few years, the pup play scene has grown in popularity. What this anthology celebrates is furries into pup play. Stories do not have to be erotic. We definitely encourage a wide variety of genres here, but it is adult-friendly.
