Bound Tales

Thurston Howl's Bound Tales is THP's furry imprint. This means that it focuses on publishing adult anthropomorphic-animal fiction, adult implying both erotica and horror mostly.

If you are interested in querying us for your furry book, please send us a full query (first 10-20 pages, full synopsis in one or two single-spaced pages, and a cover letter) to thurstonhowlpub@gmail.com, addressing one of the editors below based on your genre.

At this time, we are not looking for generic sci fi or fantasy, young adult, children's, picture books, or religious fiction. We really prioritize erotic and horror content, especially with liberal slants.

Electric Sewer 2: Boogie Nights

Deadline: December 1, 2020

Word Count: 2,000-8,000; a little above and a little below will be acceptable

There's a club on the outskirts of town. The neon lights outside flicker over silhouetted forms smoking. Inside, a

rat bartender watches forms dancing, glares exchanged, and drinks sloshing. The bass is loud, and the dancers strip more and more...and more. Welcome to the Electric Sewer.

This anthology is set in a neonpunk world in the 90s. You can take your characters anywhere. This is pretty open world! The only rules are these: 1. It has to be furry erotic horror. 2. You have to at least mention the nightclub Electric Sewer, even if no one goes there! 3. Carlos is the name of the pink rat bartender and owner of the Electric Sewer. He can be in your story, but just know his personality is stoic, more of a sinister watcher than a participant in what goes on at the club, very terse. 4. The club is having a week of "boogie nights" during the plot of your story. So feel free to play with that added aesthetic and music. Other than those three things, you have free rein! 5. Andre is the burly boar bouncer of the club (at least for this week). He's always up to gossip but is also known for being on dangerous drugs and going on angry, rage-filled hookups with patrons. Same with Carlos the bartender, you don't have to even mention him, but he is the head bouncer at least for Boogie Nights Week!

What is neonpunk?

First of all, think of what cyberpunk is and does. It’s often progressive and alternative and based on a digital sci fi technological world. Now, move that world backward in time to the 80s/90s. So examples aesthetically would be Stranger Things, Caravan Palace’s Lone Digger music video, the neon chapter of the video game Infamous Second Son, elements of the music video Into the Night by Nero, etc. In a nutshell, it has this neon aesthetic, and characters can be whatever species and whacky colors you want! It has a setting in the 80s / 90s. And it’s still punk!

Possible stories might include things like this: a slasher is killing strippers at the club and a gay gang leader is on the case, a long distance polyam trio decide to meet for the first time at the club and two of them have a gun, or even a new sex drug has hit the streets and it gives permanent erections. These are just ideas to start giving inspiration but feel free to use!

I encourage all kinds of horror: sci fi horror, slashers, creature horror, body horror, etc.

TIPS FROM THE EDITOR: “In volume one, we only accepted seven stories. Most of the rejections happened because the author tried to make the world a lot more specific, giving it a specific city and a specific staff and history (which was problematic because it will naturally contradict others’ pieces); the story wasn’t horror; the story wasn’t erotic; or the story missed the neonpunk aesthetic of the setting. Also, note that with every single one of the accepted stories, I requested edits that upped the f***-ed up nature of the story. If you were to look at the submitted stories vs the final, you would see the following additions: explicit descriptions of snuff films, concrete-encased gimps, dubious consent, necrophilia, etc. I want to hammer in for people submitting that this is a very, VERY dark anthology. I said earlier we accepted seven stories, but people who have read the book know there are six in the book. One author pulled after edits, after artwork had been discussed, saying they felt uncomfortable being published in a book this dark. If that could potentially be you, please save us both the trouble. Hope these tips help!”

iPawd: A Furry Adult Music Anthology

Deadline: January 10, 2021

Editor: Thurston Howl and Cedric G! Bacon

Word count: 2,500-8,000; a little above and a little below will be acceptable

The idea is that each story, while sexual and furry, connects to a particular song.

You can read the word "connects" in three different ways:

1. The song is played throughout the story.

2. The story plays out the plot of the song.

3. The story plays out with the song kind of just being an ambience or moodsetter for the story, i.e. the song doesn't even appear in the story but you wrote the story with the song in mind all the same.

Feel free to play with lots of musical aspects. A wolf could be playing violin on a moonlit hill for his lover. A drummer could be performing at a punk rock concert while her girlfriend eats her out, hidden in front of the bass drum. A slow dance at a club leads to fingers going beyond the waistband and below the tail. The "Cha Cha Slide" could be read as sexual directions in the bedroom.

Just note that it needs to be erotic, furry, and music-focused. You can't include whole lines of the song in your story unless it just happens to be public domain.

We will NOT accept:

Racism, sexism, or discrimination presented in a positive light.

Pedophilia or sex with characters under the age of 18 presented in a positive light.

Rape, torture, dubious consent, forced seduction presented in a positive light.

Snuff or Necrophilia presented in a positive light

Bestiality presented in a positive light
